Sports medicine in Munich

Whether it is a sports injury, symptoms caused by overuse or a return to training: Dr. Schettle cares for recreational and competitive athletes at his private orthopaedic practice in Munich-Altperlach. His focus is on treatment without surgery. Examination, therapy and advice are tailored to your sport and your personal goals.

When can sports medicine help?

  • Acute sports injuries, such as strains, torn muscle fibres, ligament or tendon injuries
  • Overuse complaints, for example due to training errors, unsuitable equipment or unfavourable movement patterns
  • Aftercare following serious injuries and surgery

How are sports-related complaints treated?

Dr. Schettle first clarifies the cause of your symptoms through a consultation and a physical examination. In doing so, he also takes into account your training volume, previous injuries and the movements during which your symptoms occur. If needed, a digital movement analysis complements the physical examination.

Treatment is conservative, that is, without surgery. Depending on the findings, conventional measures such as physiotherapy and modern physical therapy procedures such as shockwave therapy are used.

How do you successfully return to training?

After an injury or surgery, Dr. Schettle develops an individual rehabilitation plan with you. This takes into account the healing process and the demands of your sport.

You discuss which loads are already possible and how you can gradually resume your training. A key factor here is also how well mobility, strength and stability have been restored.

Orthopaedic sports check and training advice

Would you like to take up a sport, return after a break or have your training reviewed? Dr. Schettle examines your musculoskeletal system and discusses with you which loads suit your individual circumstances. Three questions are the focus.

How does your sport load your body?

Which joints, tendons and muscles your sport places particular demands on.

What does that mean for you?

Dr. Schettle explains what the examination results mean for your training.

How can you reduce your risk of injury?

Which exercises, which equipment and which approach to training are appropriate for you to help prevent overuse and injuries.
