Digital gait and posture analysis in Munich
Digital gait and posture analysis shows how you stand and walk and how pressure is distributed under your feet. With back, knee, hip or foot complaints, these measurements can provide indications of uneven loading. The examination is radiation-free. Dr. Schettle discusses the results with you and interprets them together with the findings of the physical examination.
When is the analysis useful?
Our holistic approach includes looking at the musculoskeletal system as a whole. That is why, during the examination, we take into account the interplay of the feet, legs, pelvis and spine.
Dr. Schettle uses the analysis when the physical examination indicates abnormal loading or a change in gait pattern, for example in the case of:
- back pain with suspected poor posture
- knee and hip pain with an unfavourable leg axis
- foot deformities
- to assess how you stand and walk with existing insoles or prostheses
How the measurement works
The measurement takes place in the bodynostic movement laboratory in the same building. Dr. Schettle carries out the medical examination and interprets the results.
- Consultation and examinationDr. Schettle clarifies your symptoms and whether the analysis will be helpful.
- 4D spine measurementA light pattern is projected onto your back and captured by a camera. From this, the software calculates a model of the shape of your back and the position of the spine and pelvis.
- Gait and foot pressure measurementWhile you walk on the treadmill, your movements and the pressure distribution under your feet are recorded. This makes it possible to assess how your feet roll and any differences between the two sides.
- DiscussionDr. Schettle explains the results and the next steps to you.
Frequently asked questions about the analysis
Are X-rays used?
No. The back measurement uses light, the foot pressure measurement uses sensors.
What should I bring?
Comfortable clothing, the shoes you wear in everyday life or for sport, and any insoles you already have.
What can the analysis measure?
Posture and the spine while standing, your gait pattern and the pressure distribution under your feet, including small differences between left and right.
Does it replace X-rays or MRI?
No. The analysis shows how you load your body. X-rays or MRI show bones and tissue. Dr. Schettle decides which examination is needed based on the findings.
What follows from the results?
Dr. Schettle evaluates the measurements together with your symptoms and the physical examination. On this basis, he discusses with you which treatment is appropriate.
The results can help to tailor physiotherapy exercises and targeted training to your movement patterns. Depending on the findings, insoles or orthoses may also be an option. Several conservative measures are often combined. The medical supply store and the physiotherapy practice are located in the same building.
